Don't take apples from strangers

This is a quick doodle, sort of a mental note on paper, for an upcoming photoshoot.
I kind of like it as a drawing though. I dont' know why. It's very messy.

Random Sketches

I like Corel Painter (and if they'd like to send me money for saying so I'd happily accept). It's fun to just randomly mess around with or use in actual prjects. Here's a couple of abstract weirdness created using mostly the impasto brushes. Just messing around with no real goal in mind.

Moosonee Ontario

I just got back from a trip to Moosonee, Ontario to do some animation workshops with the kids up there. Lots of fun and it was warm and sunny, except for the day I was leaving when it snowed, but it looked real purrty.
Here's a couple photos!

Photo of the day

This is from a series of photos I did of my friend, the lovely model Kelly Abbass, last spring.
A number of the final photos are featured on her WEB SITE as well as her work with other photographers.
I came across this one today while looking for something else and felt like playing around in photoshop for a bit. The bricks are from somewhere in Callander Ontario and inserted here almost like they were projected on the wall. I like the effect

Sketching crows

This is a quick sketch using corel painter. One of the problems I have with painting or drawing directly on the computer is that software never quite reacts enough like the real thing. You get a lot of fancy brushes and you can mix different media that might not work together in the real world which is great fun but at the same time I miss the control you have with using a real brush.

Still a lot of fun to play with though.

Israeli and Canadian Animation Celebration

Here's a couple of animation events happening in Toronto brought to you by TAIS and friends. I designed these postcards to promote the event using artwork form the animators who's work will be shown at the events. Check 'em out they should be very interesting.

The Spider, cuddliest of God's creatures

Of all the creatures of the world, surely the most popular, the most appreciated and the one that brings the most joy to our hearts (second only to snakes and crawly bugs) is the spider.
Here is a quick sketch of the lovable fellah about to have a tasty lunch. Look how cute he is!
Poor Mr. Fly was caught on the way to the office and now he'll never see his little wife and larva children again... or will he?
No he won't.

Enjoy!

wacky randomness

I spent saturday wandering around, checking out the numerous assorted art galleries on Queen st, in Toronto. Lots of great stuff which inspired me to draw or paint or animated something so of course I went home and watched movies instead. Today however, still feeling creative enough to do something but lazy enough to leave the art supplies in the cupboard, I bring you these random sketches created entirely with a Wacon Tablet and Corel painter. Just making stuff up as I go.

aka How to draw a monster in 4 easy steps

Step 01:
Start doodling this thing. I dunno what it is either. Kinda looks tree-ish.
dragon01.jpg

Step 02:
Then put in an eye ball somewhere which helps to make your creature look less like a tree.
dragon02.jpg

Step 03:
Finally add some more scribbles and colours and your eye-ball tree will look like a Chinese Dragon-esque thingy.

Step 04:
If you keep fussing with your drawing you will eventually end up with this, your final creature. Treasure it.

... and thus concludes this weeks class on drawing random, stream of conciousness, monsters. Good luck and drive safe!
